The original plan for the WWE Payback main event was Batista vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE title on June 1 in Chicago. Batista was scheduled to work through the Payback show and then leave for his movie media commitments but he declined. The word is that Batista did not want to lose to Bryan again and since he already lost to Bryan once he didn’t want to lose to someone as small as Bryan again. WWE opted to allow him an early release (temporary) since they didn’t have anything for him creatively outside of the Daniel Bryan match. Batista is expected back in a few months.
