GFW now keeping 100 percent of talent merchandise sold through the company



There has been an interesting change to the way Global Force Wrestling is structuring their contracts. Sports Illustrated is reporting that the newest series of contracts requires talent to give 10 percent of their independent bookings back to GFW. But, that’s not all…GFW will keep 100 percent of the profits from merchandise sold directly through them.

So, essentially, if merchandise is being sold at GFW shows or through the GFW website, then the talent will not get a cut from that. Many wrestlers sell their own merchandise through Pro Wrestling Tees and at merchandise tables when they book outside appearances.

In other GFW news, Sports Illustrated reported that Alberto El Patron’s suspension is neither paid or unpaid during his suspension because he is paid per appearance and he was already compensated for the work he did at the recent TV tapings. Since the police have ruled him out as a suspect in the domestic incident with Paige, he will likely be back in time for GFW’s live event on August 6 in Connecticut.

GFW is going through a rebranding phase. There is still a feeling that they need to get off of Pop TV and need to get a paying TV deal with another network in 2018. I wouldn’t rule out a return to Spike TV. Jeff Jarrett has friends there and met with a Spike executive at one of the recent Bellator MMA shows.
