The Impact Wrestling product feels cold right now with ratings dropping again this week but there are long-term plans going forward in 2018. According to Dave Melzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are plans for TV tapings in multiple cities after they are done with the upcoming shows in Ottawa.
New York, Toronto, and Chicago are being considered but there is skepticism that they’ll really leave Canada because of the costs associated with taping in a major market, especially New York and Chicago.
They are getting tax breaks for filming in Canada which is probably one of their main reasons for moving Bound For Glory and the next set of tapings to Ottawa. I should note that they talked about their big plans to launch their Global Wrestling Network streaming service in September but, other than the brief and accidental launch a couple of weeks ago, there has been no talk about the service.
This week’s episode of Impact Wrestling on Pop TV was watched by 251,000 viewers. That is a drop from last week’s 264,000.
