Current TNA star Bobby Lashley returned to the Bellator MMA cage on Friday night against Josh Appelt in a heavyweight bout in the co-main event of Bellator 162 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. The event aired on Spike TV.
As seen in the fight, Lashley dominated Appelt on the ground with his control and strikes. Lashley almost finished Applet with strikes in the first round, but Appelt survived and made it to the second round.
In the second round, Appelt rushed him and landed some strikes then went to clinch but Lashley grabbed his neck and took him down. Lashley transitioned to back mount and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win. Lashley is now on an eight-fight winning streak in his MMA career. With Bellator MMA not having a heavyweight champion currently, it will be interesting to see if the promotion books him in the heavyweight title tournament or squares him off with a big name fighter next.
