ROH World Heavyweight Champion Christopher Daniels recently appeared on Shotgun Wrestling Radio to talk about various topics. During the interview, he was asked about winning the ROH World Title from Adam Cole at the 15 Anniversary pay-per-view event. He noted that it felt like the weight was lifted off of his shoulders. He said that he was fortunate to earn their respect and that since he has won the championship that they look at him differently. “Winning it when I did wouldn’t have meant the same if I hadn’t lost as often as I had. It’s a great feeling.”
Daniels will defend the ROH World Championship against Cody Rhodes at the fourth annual Best in the World pay-per-view event on Friday, June 23 in Lowell, Massachusetts at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. When asked about the upcoming match, Daniels said that he thinks the reputation of ROH is a place people want to go and want to experience. He brought up how Bully Ray and The Hardy Boyz have been in the promotion this year. He noted that ROH has a group of guys who love what they’re doing and that creates a great atmosphere.
“Cody came to ROH and had run rough shot over the last year. It takes courage to step away from the WWE system on your own. One of the things on his Twitter list was Ring of Honor.” He believes that says a lot about ROH that guys like Rhodes want to come here and wrestle. “Everyone who comes to ROH wants to be world champion, and right now it is my job to stop him.”
Daniels also talked about returning to ROH in 2014 and more. You can listen to the interview here.
