Gail Kim recently spoke with Kevin Eck of Pressbox Online to talk about her career and more. During the interview, she was asked about her back injury that has kept her out of action since October of last year when she had to vacate the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Championship. She said that the injury was due to the wear and tear from over the years. She said that Impact Wrestling has been good to her in terms of letting her take time off to make sure she is healthy.
“I’ve been ready to come back for a little while but [Impact Wrestling] has had some time off because we film a bunch of shows once a month or once every other month, so that’s the only reason why I haven’t been back in the ring, but I’m going to be back shortly.”
Although Kim is not under contract with Impact Wrestling, she doesn’t plan on joining another promotion. “Technically, no, but I have a contract in hand. I won’t ever go anywhere else. That’s my family.”
Kim has been wrestling since 2000 and has won championships in both WWE and Impact Wrestling during her successful career. When asked about her future in pro wrestling, she said that those questions have popped into her mind and pointed out that they have incorporated it into a storyline in the past. She brought up how she teased retirement in the storyline.
“People really thought I retired because we never really continued it or explained it; I just really got injured and never came back, so people assumed I was retired. I said, “No, you will know when I’m retired. I wouldn’t go away that quietly.”
Kim also talked about the women’s revolution in WWE and more. You can read the entire interview here.
