Former AAA, WCW, WWE, and TNA Superstar Konnan recently appeared on Main Event Radio to talk about various topics. During the interview, Konnan was asked about being critical on women’s wrestling in the past. Konnan said that he was critical because the in-ring product of women’s wrestling sucked but did state that he doesn’t hate it. Konnan said that in the past, all of the women wrestlers were models and that their matches were brutal and embarrassing to watch. “Now they have this new crop of girls who are killing it. Charlotte Flair is incredible and Sasha Banks and Natalya,” Konnan said. Konnan added that WWE still has talents like The Bella Twins that can’t go but they’re watchable.
TNA has been going through a rough stretch as of late with their financial issues and ownership. “They’re going to keep crawling along but it does them no favors to be on a station like Pop TV,” Konnan said. Konnan thinks that the problems for the company start at the top with Dixie Carter, who he called incompetent. Konnan said that she is nice to all of the talents but thinks that she doesn’t know what she is doing and that TNA would continue to suffer under her. Konnan doesn’t think that the talents that are under contract with TNA is the problem but does think that the biggest problem TNA has is perception and branding. “If they get the right people and the right branding, they can still turn that place around,” Konnan said. He believes TNA needs to get on a better TV network to turn things around.
