New champions crowned on Impact, former WWE names backstage, and more

For those that did not watch the show or did not read the results, TNA crowned a new TNA Champion on Impact Wrestling’s debut on Destination America.

Awesome Kong returned to the company and faced off with Havok so they will be feuding over the next several weeks.

Kurt Angle made his in-ring return.

Austin Aries defeated Low Ki to become the X-Division champion.

The lights in the crowd were dimmed so you could only see a few rows. I’m told that it looked like they had about 600 people in attendance.

The company tapes more shows tomorrow and on Friday. The company will be introducing more “reality” elements to the shows in the next few weeks.

Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Chris Hero, and Gene Snitsky were backstage at the show, likely just there visiting. Well, in Dreamer’s case, he still works for the company in a backstage capacity.
