Khabib Nurmagomedov may end up not getting paid one cent for his fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 229.
Dana White told TMZ Sports that the Nevada State Athletic Commission is talking about keeping the $2 million purse that they are currently witholding for him because of the post-fight brawl.
“They took his whole purse right now and they’re talking about keeping his purse,” White told TMZ. “You should not be able to keep his whole purse.”
White agrees that Khabib should be slapped with a fine but he believes it should be in the range of $250,000 and not $2 million. He also believes Khabib will be suspended and thinks it should be 4 to 6 months.
White said he will not attempt to circumvent the suspension by booking Khabib to fight outside of the United States. He was asked why McGregor is not being punished after the bus incident in New York. White argued that McGregor did suffer consequences because he is no longer allowed to fight in New York and what Khabib did was worse because it happened during a live show.
White also talked about Tony Ferguson as a possible opponent for McGregor’s next fight and said UFC 229 did well over 2 million buys which would make it the most purchased UFC pay-per-view in history.
