There are some conflicting reports on Brock Lesnar’s status and on what happened during the main event of WrestleMania 34. It’s clear that if Vince McMahon felt that Roman Reigns had the support from the fans in recent weeks, then he would have stuck with the original plan to have Reigns win the Universal Championship on Sunday.
However, as reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the decision to put the title on Lesnar was a late decision and it was made sometime during the last week or so.
Now, combat sports reporting is saying that it was a very late decision and, according to his sources, an audible was called during the match because Reigns wasn’t getting over with the crowd. Botter also states that Lesnar’s deal is just a contract extension for one more match. If that is the case, then that likely means that he will lose the title to Reigns at The Greatest Royal Rumble show in Saudi Arabia.
Botter wrote, “My understanding is Lesnar signed for one more match. Audible called by Vince during the match last night when Roman wasn’t getting over at all. Now Lesnar will lose the belt in front of a more conducive audience.”
Botter added that there could be one more date in his new deal for a TV appearance but, at most, he signed a two-appearance deal.
