The Undertaker’s return at WrestleMania was one of the big moments on the show. Some fans were puzzled at the length of the match and some were wondering why John Cena was squashed on such a big stage.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the match between Cena and Taker was made months ago. At some point, they realized that Taker could not do a long match. We have noted here on WrestlingNews.co, that Taker has been moving around much better than he was last year and that was the case during the match at Mania. However, he might be limited on the bumps he can take because of his hip.
So, as Dave Meltzer reported this week, when they realized that Taker could not do much, that is when they decided not to actually announce the match. They wanted the fans to know that Taker would be at Mania for the match with Cena but they wanted to downplay the idea that it would be one of the biggest matches on the show because they didn’t want fans to have high expectations.
One person I spoke to said that Taker did not seem to be in pain after the match with Cena so that is good to hear. If he had his hip replaced then he would obviously be limited with his bumps. Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper had their hips replaced and they were never the same in the ring.
Taker is scheduled to face Chris Jericho in a casket match at The Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27 in Saudi Arabia. Click here for the updated card.
