Brock Lesnar is the WWE Universal Champion but WWE is banking on Braun Strowman as one of their top babyfaces after losing Roman Reigns while he battles leukemia.
On Saturday, it was clear that something was a little off with Strowman as he made his way down to the ring for his match with Lesnar at Crown Jewel. There was a lot of speculation online that Strowman could have been dealing with a knee issue.
It turns out that Strowman is dealing with injuries on both knees.
On Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Strowman’s knees and how it may have been a mistake for WWE to book him to run while looking for Baron Corbin on Monday Night Raw.
“Braun’s knees are shot,” Meltzer said. “He cannot move,” Bryan Alvarez added.
Meltzer continued, “The first time when he tried to run, he was ok for a little while. I think he may have hurt himself worse but I knew at Crown Jewel when he walked down that ramp.”
We reached out to a source in WWE and it was confirmed to us that Strowman has been dealing with knee issues.
It seems unlikely that Strowman is going to take time off in the near future because he is scheduled to be a part of Team Raw at Survivor Series. It also looks like he will be the guy to win the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar, either at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania.
Several WWE stars are working hurt right now. Bobby Lashley has a separated shoulder and Jinder Mahal is working with a shoulder injury. Reigns’ absence was a huge blow to the company so hopefully, Strowman will be able to carry the ball for the next few months before he eventually needs to take time off to heal.
