The women of Smackdown Live felt like they had a lot to prove and they delivered in the first-ever women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match. As you could imagine, there were plenty of high-risk spots but the finish was flat.
Becky Lynch had the match won but James Ellsworth got in the ring and tipped the ladder over. Ellsworth then climbed the ladder to try and grab the briefcase. He then dropped it into the hands of Carmella. The three referees at ringside argued on whether this victory would stand since Carmella did not actually climb the ladder. Ellsworth grabbed the mic and announced Carmella as the winner. I should note that the referees never made the decision so Carmella’s win might not stand. I guess we’ll have to wait until Smackdown Live to find out more but Carmella left the ring with the case in her hand as her music played. JBL argued that Carmella didn’t break any rules because the MITB match is no DQ.
