As previously reported, David Otunga is in an ugly court battle with his fiancee, pop music star and current judge of The Voice, Jennifer Hudson. Otunga and Hudson recently split after a 10-year relationship, and Hudson has filed a protective order against her ex.
Otunga’s attorney, Tracy Rizzo, released a statement to US Weekly, after the amicable approach to share parental rights went sour.
“David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now. However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute.”
As a result of the protective order, and the custody battle, TMZ reports that Otunga is pulling out of the Survivor Series event. Their sources said that he is stepping away from the event to focus on the child custody battle.
Otunga is seen every pay-per-view as a panelist on the Kickoff Show, along with Renee Young and, usually, Jerry Lawler. There’s no word on who will be his replacement on Sunday.
