Every couple of years, the rumors about Dolph Ziggler’s future in WWE pop up. Is he going to stay or will he go elsewhere? It appeared that he was locked into another multi-year deal when Justin Barrasso from Sports Illustrated reported that Ziggler signed a new $1.5 million deal. That number seemed high because WWE tops out their downside guarantee offers at around $1 million for their top stars.
Ziggler set the record straight during an interview with Miami WSVN-TV reporter Chris Van Vliet. It turns out that Ziggler still has time left on his existing deal but talks are ongoing and he could sign a new deal sometime in the near future.
Ziggler said that he thought that he reached all of his goals a couple of years ago but he decided to stay because there were a couple of people that he wanted to work with.
In regards to the recent rumors, Ziggler said, “My father called me to congratulate me on my deal that I had re-signed and I said ‘What are you talking about?’ and so… It’s fun to have internet rumors out there, but even if and when I do re-sign I won’t be like ‘Hey everybody, here’s the details of this contract’.” He continued, “There’s a short amount of time left on this contract. We’re negotiating and we’ll see what happens.”
Ziggler has other things on his plate but he says that wrestling is still his passion. In the interview below, he also talks about what went wrong with his U.S. title run and more.
