It’s always smart to take wrestling retirements with a grain of salt, especially when it’s a young retirement that has nothing to do with injuries.
Rich Swann retired a few weeks ago after pulling out of several independent wrestling appearances and he was said to be dealing with some of the negative fallout after the domestic incident with his wife from December. The case was dropped and he was never convicted of anything but there seemed to be some hesitation from promoters on whether or not they should book him and that led to his decision to retire.
Well, Swann un-retired on Saturday night and he made a surprise appearance for Combat Zone Wrestling as the 13th man in their Best of the Best tournament. As you can see below, he received a warm reception. Presumably, this is his first step towards a full-time return on the independent scene.
