As noted on Monday night, the WWE show in Honolulu is sold out. Wrestlezone got word from fan in Honolulu about a commerical that aired during Raw that advertised John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Kevin Owens vs. Brock Lesnar. We were told by a fan in Honolulu about those matches and Asuka vs. Charlotte being advertised.
Apparently plans changed, someone jumped the gun or a few fans in Honolulu made up the story about Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens taking place on that show and sent it into wrestling news sites but it was reported in the 4/25 Wrestling Observer newsletter that Lesnar would be on the show. Here is an excerpt:
“Lesnar has been added to Nakamura and Asuka as non-regulars on the road who will appear on the 6/29 show in Honolulu. We’ve gotten no word that it will be a network special, but shows Lesnar gets added to often are, and the first WWE show in Honolulu since 2010 would sound like a good hook.”
In this week’s Observer, Meltzer noted that WWE has confirmed that the Honolulu show will not be a WWE Network special and he reported that Lesnar was never asked about being on the show so he will not be there.
Also, John Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura are indeed scheduled to be on the show but WWE has not confirmed that they are wrestling each other. Charlotte and Asuka will also be on the show but Natalya is also booked so it’s possible that the match could be a three-way or some sort of tag match with Paige involved.
The WWE website lists the following names for the Honolulu show: Roman Reigns, John Cena, AJ Styles, Chris Jericho, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens, The New Day, The Usos, Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, Charlotte, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Natalya and Ric Flair.
