Impact Wrestling issues statement on their collaboration with WWE

It looks like the reference to the GWN app on the WWE Network has paid off for Impact Wrestling. For those of you that missed it, this week’s episode of Table For 3 featured AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, and Shane McMahon. During the show, they aired some TNA footage featuring Styles’ and Angle’s matches with the GWN app logo on the screen. Impact Wrestling footage from the “Broken” Matt era is also included on the Hardy Boyz DVD.

The free promotion has apparently helped Impact.

Himanshu D writes:

“It looks like being advertised on the WWE Network really paid off for IMPACT Wrestling. The Global Wrestling Network app went from the 669th position for the top free sports app of iOS to 101st tonight and growing. This is more than the night after Redemption when they peaked at position 130 and higher than any other day of 2018 and the same repeats in every country where the app is available. In Canadian charts they went from 1239th to 97th in a single day and in Great Britain they went from 1029th to 143rd.”

Anthem Sports/Impact Wrestling issued the following statement on their agreement with WWE:

“IMPACT Wrestling collaborated with WWE on the project and sub-licensed the footage to them for use in their original productions. Accordingly, WWE issued a courtesy for GWN when the footage airs.”
