Dave Meltzer has confirmed the news going around about Kevin Owens. The injury angle they did on Monday Night Raw where Bobby Lashley attacked Owens’ legs was done as a cover because Owens is legitimately injured and needs time off.
Initially, we heard that he could be out for a couple of months but Meltzer’s sources told him that Owens and WWE won’t know the severity of the knee problems until he goes in for surgery. At that time it will be determined how serious the surgery will be.
No timetable for Kevin Owens return
So, in a nutshell, he could be out of a couple of months or much longer than that, depending on what doctors find. Meltzer added, “There is no estimated time back because it is based on the severity of the injury and nature of the surgery.”
Owens’ push has stalled this year since being moved from Smackdown to Raw. In recent weeks, he’s been paired in segments with Elias and teamed with him at Super Show-Down in a losing effort against Lashley and John Cena.
The injury angle also served to turn Lashley heel, something he asked for. It’s unclear if Owens will be a babyface or a heel whenever he is cleared to return to action.
