WAW Co-Owner Zak Knight spoke to MemorabiliaGuy.com to talk about his journey in professional wrestling, his sister Paige, working with Scott Hall, thoughts on Alberto El Patron and more.
Knight noted that the idea to do a movie on his family came after The Rock saw a documentary on them while he was in the UK. Knight said, “After the documentary came out, a couple of weeks later we were approached about a movie. To be honest, a lot of what you hear is true. Basically, The Rock was over in the UK and one morning he was sat up at 3am after a long day at work and our documentary was on TV and he fell in love with the family because of the family roots and the passion we showed towards wrestling. And it reminded him a lot of his family. He went to Vince and then to Kevin Misher and Stephen Merchant.”
In regards to sister Paige, he feels that she has watered herself down and become a “bump-monkey” for the other girls and that is why she is dealing with injuries. He says that she is 100% better now as far as her personal issues are concerned. “Everyone can blame Alberto for what’s happening at the moment but she’s a 24-year-old girl that made fame at 18 and she’s got a horrific injury and we don’t know what’s going to happen next. This could be the end of Paige or it could be the big fight-back story,” Knight said.
Alberto is headed to their May 13th show. As noted yesterday, Alberto and Ricky Knight (Paige’s father) have been going back and forth on Twitter to promote the upcoming show.
As of this writing, there’s no word on what Paige’s future is with WWE and, as reported by The Wrestling Observer newsletter, WWE has no plans for her after she recovers from her neck surgery so it would seem like her time with the company could be coming to an end.
