Now that Lucha Underground’s season 3 finale has aired, that allows one of the top wrestlers in the world the freedom to negotiate with other wrestling companies.
Ricochet is probably the biggest free agent on the market and there’s been a lot of talk in recent weeks about him going to WWE. WWE has wanted him for at least a year but he was not free to sign until his Lucha Underground contract expired. There is a 90-day no-compete clause so that means that he can’t sign with anyone until mid-January. In fact, Ricochet is booked for independent shows through the end of the year but he has told promoters that he will not take bookings after the end of January, which many take as a big sign that he is WWE-bound.
PWInsider reports that there have been recent negotiations with Ricochet. Dave Meltzer reported months ago that WWE, ROH, New Japan, and Impact Wrestling were interested in them and he turned down Impact Wrestling.
PWInsider also said that Ricochet’s girlfriend Tessa Blanchard will be appearing at the next set of Impact Wrestling tapings in Ottawa. That story is also not true, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer newsletter. In a post on the Observer forum, Meltzer said that there is “zero truth to Tessa” and “they wanted Ricochet which isn’t news because I wrote that months ago that WWE, ROH, New Japan and TNA all had made offers to him, and Ricochet turned them down.”
