Rusev was originally scheduled to be in the casket match against The Undertaker at The Greatest Royal Rumble. Then, sometime on Thursday, those plans changed and Chris Jericho took Rusev’s spot.
Following WWE’s announcement, Rusev removed WWE references from his Twitter account and then said:
Life is life….. it will be #RusevDay somewhere
— . (@RusevBUL) April 12, 2018
On his Instagram account, he has an email listed for non-WWE bookings.
He could be trolling fans again but, I should note that PWInsider reported last week that there was talk backstage that Rusev asked for his release in early March. That, along with his strong merchandise sales, convinced Vince McMahon to take him out of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and put him in the United States Championship match at WrestleMania.
There is still speculation on his future and he might be a little bit irked by WWE removing “Rusev Day” chants from fans during Paige’s in-ring promo on Smackdown Live. Click here for more on that story.
