As noted last week, Big Show was interviewed by WWE.com and said called out Shaquille O’Neal for not taking his WrestleMania seriously. It all came off like added hype for their match but on Monday’s Shaq podcast, the rumors were addressed. “That’s probably right. It’s not my fault. That’s all you need to know,” Shaq said. He said that the match is not totally off but “it’s not looking good.” As we noted over the weekend, Shaq was planning on starting heavy training this week and he confirmed that on his podcast. He said that he is going to work out hard this month in case the match does happen. He hinted that the issue was not with Big Show and his management but there were other issues in play.
My gut tells me that the match is still on and all of this talk is being done to help build the match. I can’t see WWE building a match up on social media during these past few weeks if they didn’t already have a deal signed with Shaq. They wanted him back in 2009 and the deal fell through at that time so I guess anything could happen.
Big Show believes that this may be his last major featured WrestleMania match so he is taking this very seriously and has gotten into tremendous shape in recent months. Hopefully, for his sake, this match does take place. Otherwise, I don’t see a spot for him on the card, except perhaps in the Andre The Giant battle royal.
