As noted a few times here on WrestlingNews.co, WWE is doing everything to stack up the card for The Greatest Royal Rumble because they have a very lucrative 10-year TV deal in Saudi Arabia.
PWInsider has confirmed that former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio will be at the Greatest Royal Rumble show on April 27.
Mysterio and WWE have been in talks since January. He was brought in for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view as a surprise entrant and talks have continued. He’s been sidelined with a bicep injury but has indicated that he should be healed by the end of this month, which opens the door for him to appear in Saudi Arabia.
There is nothing indicating that he has signed a full-time deal and he still has commitments to New Japan Pro Wrestling so, for now, this looks to be another one-off appearance. Mysterio has said publicly that he would like to return as part of the active roster but would like a reduced schedule so he can spend time training his son.
The Greatest Royal Rumble will also feature the return of Chris Jericho, John Cena vs. Triple H, a casket match between The Undertaker and Rusev, and the finals of the Raw Tag Team Championship tournament. More matches will be announced soon.
