Many of you know by now that the main event for WrestleMania is already set with Brock Lesnar scheduled to face Roman Reigns. On Tuesday morning’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked if WWE has plans to take the Universal Championship off of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam so that they could have a champion on Raw. This year, Lesnar is scheduled to appear on more shows but he is still going to be off of the majority of the live events.
Dave Meltzer noted that the plan is for Lesnar to go into the match as WWE Universal Champion. That does not guarantee that Lesnar won’t lose the title and then win it back before Mania.
It does seem like he will be getting a long title reign because the idea for Mania is to do a proper coronation for Reigns and officially replace John Cena as the face of the company. It would not make sense for Lesnar to lose to someone else before the big match with Reigns. Also, house show business has remained steady without the Universal Championship being defended. Lesnar is scheduled to feud with Braun Strowman when Strowman is recovered from his recent elbow surgery.
