Fans of the Attitude Era got some good news on Monday. 52 episodes of Sunday Night Heat have been added to the WWE Network. The shows start with the debut episode from August 2, 1998, and go through July 25, 1999.
Heat was WWE’s “B” show behind Monday Night Raw but slowly morphed into the “C” show after Smackdown launched on UPN in 1999. Perhaps, the most famous episode of Heat aired in January 1999 during the halftime of the Super Bowl when The Rock took on Mankind in an empty arena match. At 11 million viewers (6.6 rating), that episode ranks as one of the most watched WWE programs in their history.
The show continued to air (first on USA, then on TNN and MTV and eventually on WWE.com) until it was scrapped in 2008. Let’s hope that episodes of WWE Superstars and Wrestling Challenge are on the way soon.
