Some people still hold fond memories from the past for Superstars who are still extremely popular to this day and their fandom probably won’t dwindle too much through the years. Rey Mysterio is a man who has a big name in pro wrestling and he can still go in the ring. Now it turns out he’s also very open to a WWE return as well which is exciting news.
“I’m not locked up to any company. I’m an independent contractor, as we day” Mysterio told ESPN, “I could go work wherever I was. That’s the beautiful thing about being on this side of the fence. You don’t have a commitment with only one company. You can go around and pretty much wrestle wherever you want. You can choose when you want your off-days to be. That was one of my main priorities when I left WWE.”
Mysterio seems to be pretty content working the indie scene and making a lot of money per appearance and he seems to be in great shape seeing how he’s able to wrestle without a knee brace on for the first time in 15 years.
Mysterio said when he wrapped up his last run with WWE, he was in a lot of pain but now he’s never felt better. Therefore, there is no telling where Mysterio could turn up next. After all, Lucha Underground’s fourth season should begin soon and it was also noted that the Royal Rumble isn’t too far away either. If Mysterio does make a surprise appearance in Philly, we can only hope he’s not booed out of the building this time because he’s not Daniel Bryan.
When he was asked about the chances of appearing at the 2018 Royal Rumble, Mr. 6-1-9 replied with the classic pro wrestling response: “Never say never, right?” You can read into that however you wish but from the sound of it, if WWE called Mysterio he’d be on a flight to wherever Vince McMahon was pretty quickly.
