There are a lot of people out there in the indie scene who WWE hasn’t been able to pick up quite yet and Toni Storm is a big name on that list.
Dave Meltzer noted during Wrestling Observer Radio how he heard Toni Storm appeared in a promo for WWE’s upcoming UK tour in June. This was intriguing because although she apparently got close to a deal after the Mae Young Classic, WWE and Storm haven’t really had any dealings with each other since except for fan speculation and wishing the two could work something out.
“So I was checking on this and Toni Storm is booked in Japan on June 17 — those UK shows are the 18th and the 19th. But she told Stardom who she’s working for that she needs to be back on June 18th, back in England.”
“I don’t know that means she signed or she’s just going to be doing those shows. I think if they are going to do a UK promotion, a UK television show I think that because it’s WWE they’re gonna need women for that UK show and she’s obviously the first one they’re gonna call and I know she had said she wasn’t interested before that she liked doing what she was doing. But you know it looks like she’s gonna be on those UK shows — so that’s a good pick-up. I mean she’s really good and she’s got real star quality more than anyone honestly I think that she could be a bigtime star in WWE. but if she’s in the UK thing then she’ll be one of the UK stars. I mean look at Pete Dunne. Pete Dunne should be in there with Daniel Bryan and those guys and he’s not nor is there any movement for him to be and it’s just one of those things.”
Hopefully, WWE will realize what kind of star power they have in their UK division, especially if they can snag an incredible talent like Toni Storm for a deal. Because it is unfortunate to think that there is a glass ceiling on the guys in the UK Division just due to geography and style.
