Today would’ve been the 73rd birthday of late WWE Hall Of Famer “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. WWE CEO Vince McMahon recently took to his Twitter account and remembered the former NWA World Champion. Here’s what he had to say:
“They broke the mold when they made Dusty Rhodes. Thinking of The American Dream on his birthday.”

Rhodes is an icon of the professional wrestling industry. In the ’70s and ’80s Rhodes begun working for promotions such as National Wrestling Alliance and Jim Crockett promotions. In the late ’80s Rhodes started working for WWE before returning to WCW, while also working for ECW. “Dream” worked anywhere and everywhere before eventually returning to WWE in 2005 when he signed a legends deal with the company.
He’d eventually go on to help shape the Superstars of WWE’s future at the WWE Performance Center. Most notably, Dusty helped with promo classes and is fondly remembered by many current top WWE stars.
