A couple of weeks ago, when Vince McMahon announced plans for the Superstar Shake-Up, some of us assumed that this would be a light version of the WWE Draft and the full Draft would take place later this year, perhaps after SummerSlam. However, it doesn’t look like that is the case.
On Tuesday’s Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that there are no plans for a WWE Draft later this year. In fact, the Superstar Shake-Up WAS this year’s version of the draft. Vince McMahon decided that he no longer likes to use the word “draft” so that’s why the name was changed. McMahon’s weird quirks are not new. Everyone knows that he doesn’t like the phrase “professional wrestling.” One of his latest odd quirks was noticed during WrestleMania 33. The directive during the show was to ignore references to Camping World Stadium and to call it the Citrus Bowl. So yea, it’s no longer the “WWE Draft” because Vince said so.
