WWE continued the monster push for Braun Strowman on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. For those of you that missed it, Strowman took on The Big Show in the main event. Towards the end of the match, Strowman executed a super-plex off the top rope. The ring collapsed when they landed and the referee was sent flying out of the ring.
The first time they did the ring collapse spot was in 2003 on an episode of Smackdown Live during a Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar match. They did it again in 2011 during a Big Show vs. Mark Henry match at the Vengeance pay-per-view. The ring collapse spot is something the company does sparingly because it means more when it’s done every few years.
During the last two times when WWE did this spot, both match participants were knocked out. This time, so they could get over how much of a monster Strowman is, they had Strowman get back on his feet and walk backstage under his own power as his music played. Strowman is being built up for his match with Roman Reigns at Payback.
