Most of the reaction on social media for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship match was positive. Both teams laid it all out on the table but these matches have consequences. Everyone involved in the first Hell in a Cell match that opened up Sunday’s pay-per-view took a beating. It was also the first time that the Tag Team Championship was defended inside the cell and the first cell match for all four competitors so we all knew that they would give the fans something to remember.
It was a great way to start the show and many would argue that it was the second-best match on the show, behind the Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon spectacle. As we noted during the PPV recap on Sunday night, Xavier Woods took a lot of punishment from kendo stick shots delivered by The Usos. The welts on his body might not have been obvious during the match, but Woods shared a video and, as you can see below, he was feeling the effects just minutes after losing the tag team titles to The Usos.
Woods also took to Twitter to apologize to the fans for letting them down. Ummm…I’m pretty sure that fans were happy with that match and The New Day did not let anyone down. If anything, The Usos and The New Day are the main teams responsible for elevating the tag team titles and making them seem important again.
I let everyone down. I'm sorry.
