The latest on Braun Strowman is that he has not been cleared to return, despite a PWInsider report claiming otherwise. Both Dave Meltzer and Ryan Satin noted that Strowman is close to returning after being sidelined for the last few weeks after minor elbow surgery. Someone from WWE also confirmed to us that he has not been cleared but will probably be cleared soon, perhaps as soon as this coming Monday. He is weeks ahead of his recovery timetable.
Regardless of whether he is cleared or not right now, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that he is scheduled for the Great Balls Of Fire show on July 9. There is plenty of time between now and 7/9 so there shouldn’t be any concern over his availability for the PPV. It’s not known what the plans are for him but given that he was supposed to have one more PPV match with Reigns before getting injured, but it would make sense for him to face Reigns on that show.
WWE has done nothing to tease what the direction will be for Reigns going into Great Balls Of Fire but he will be making his SummerSlam announcement on Monday. If the plan is for him to wrestle Strowman then it would make sense for Strowman to return on Monday to get his revenge and set up the rematch. Following the Payback PPV, it looked like they were setting up for an ambulance match.
