As reported earlier this week by PWInsider, Rey Mysterio is booked to return on Smackdown 1000 on October 16. His name has not been added to any of the local advertising so it looks like they are either waiting to announce him next week or they are holding him off because they want him to be a surprise.
Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Mysterio’s return as a regular character is imminent and his first match back will be on the Smackdown 1000 show.
However, this does not mean that he will be part of the blue brand because it looks like WWE has not decided on that yet. Meltzer noted that it is not a lock that Smackdown Live would be his brand.
It’s unclear how much or in what manner he will be used because he will be working on a limited schedule. That was one of the main things he wanted to be included on his new contract because he wanted to allow his body enough time to rest and he wanted time off to spend with his family.
Returning names announced so far for Smackdown Live are:
– The Undertaker
– Evolution (with the return of Batista and Ric Flair)
– Vickie Guerrero
– Teddy Long
– Michelle McCool
– Torrie Wilson
As we reported on Wednesday, there has been talk of John Cena appearing but that is not confirmed. Cena will be going back to China for two more months of filming for Jackie Chan’s “Project X” but that doesn’t start until the end of the month and Smackdown 1000 is on October 16 so he could make it to the show.
