As noted a few days ago, Brock Lesnar’s new WWE deal is for the short-term. WWE did not reveal how long the deal is because then fans would be able to figure out when he would be dropping the Universal Championship. It’s very possible that he will drop it at The Greatest Royal Rumble show in Saudi Arabia where fans would be more receptive to Roman Reigns.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that an agreement was reached at the 4/2 Raw in Atlanta. The Greatest Royal Rumble show was a part of the talks with Lesnar. His deal is not listed as a one-match deal but it could turn out that way. The deal does end before SummerSlam so that, at least right now, eliminates a possible Lashley vs. Lesnar match on that show. Lesnar is still allowed to negotiate with UFC and if he does fight then it would happen after his WWE deal expires.
Lesnar is said to have gotten a significant raise on the new deal and there is nothing that would prevent him from signing a new deal, which makes The Greatest Royal Rumble show intriguing in the sense that if Lesnar opts to stick around longer, then they could always keep the title on him.
When Paul Heyman made the comment on the 4/2 Raw about never seeing him and Lesnar in WWE if Reigns wins, it’s because he already knew that the match outcome was changed to Lesnar winning. Others in the company were never told and Reigns was not told until the day of the show. Heyman then did interviews with the media and worked everyone by saying that he believed Sunday was Lesnar’s last day with WWE, which made people think that there was no way that Lesnar was going to win since he would have to drop the title on the way out.
