During WrestleMania weekend, he did several interviews where he shot down reports claiming that he signed a new deal for $1.5 million. Ziggler is still under his old contract and it’s set to expire sometime in the Summer. Specifically, sometime in August or September.
Ziggler recently told Fox Sports Australia that he doesn’t want to leave WWE but he would like to go away for a little while so fans can forget about him for a while.
He said, “I’ve asked before to go away for a little while just so everyone can forget I lose 99 times out of 100 and it’s never really come through, so I might have to do it on my own and see what happens.”
Ziggler has options outside of WWE. He does work for FOX news, stand up comedy and he is working on a book and a movie with his brother.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of months. Ziggler moved to Raw this week as part of the Superstar Shake-Up and he is aligned with Drew McIntyre. WWE’s roster is bigger than ever so it’s likely that some wrestlers will be released this year but Ziggler is someone that is seen as very reliable in the eyes of the fans because he doesn’t get injured and he is easy to work with. Vince McMahon would want to keep him around but Ziggler may have other plans.
