Pro Wrestling Illustrated strips TNA of their World title status

Pro Wrestling Illustrated announced this week that they are no longer recognzing the TNA Championship as a world title. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be the only recognized world title going forward.

PWI senior writer has more on this story on the PWI podcast.

Here are some quotes from his interview on the Busted Open Radio show on Sirius XM radio.

Of course, TNA’s Bob Ryder decided to chime in with his thoughts.

The hits just keep on coming for TNA. Over the last couple of years, if people in TNA management had focused on getting their talent and production people paid on time and focused on continuing to make their product better and not being WWE-lite then maybe they’d still be on Spike TV. The wrestlers have done their job and the in-ring work has been great this year but the show feels like the final months of WCW. I don’t think TNA should go out of business because I don’t want to see wrestlers out of work but I can understand the frustration with TNA that might make some people say that.
