Ring of Honor knew that WWE would be booking an NXT live event during SummerSlam weekend, but didn’t expect them to book a Takeover special at the Barclays Center.
The original feeling within ROH was that NXT was going to run a place like the Hammerstein and draw 1,800. With enough fans in town, ROH felt that there would be enough fans for both shows to have good attendance figures, in which ROH would be fine with.
Now that WWE has announced the special, ROH is attempting to stack the August 22nd show as much as they can as they are fearful of their attendance being affected by the NXT show.
