Here’s an update on the Tyson Kidd neck injury situation. As noted before, Tyson suffered a neck break that could have been fatal. The break happened higher on the neck than most wrestler neck breaks and doctors told him that only 5% of people live after that type of break. Also, as noted a few days ago, people who do survive those types of neck breaks often end up spending the rest of their lives in a wheelchair so Tyson is extremely lucky. Tyson’s doctors remarked on how lucky he was just to be alive.
The match Tyson had with Samoa Joe was thrown together with no notice. Bret Hart also said this in his interview with Sports Illustrated. Basically, they were told that they had to rush out to the ring and do the match with no preparation.
The good news is that Tyson can already take off his collar so he can sleep but he wears it if he’s up and moving around. Edge, when he had his neck surgery several years ago, had to wear a neck collar for a long time and had to sleep in a chair because he couldn’t take the collar off before he could eventually be able to use a soft collar that he could occasionally take off. Edge was in bad shape for months after he had his surgery.
If Tyson never wrestles again, then I hope WWE can make room for him working as a trainer in NXT.
