John Cena says there is a big difference between who he really is and the character he plays on TV

John Cena spoke with Joe Berkowitz of Fastcocreate.com recently about wanting to do more acting and the differences between him and the role he plays for WWE. Here are the highlights.

On wanting to do more acting:

“I’ve been actively trying to extend my reach beyond WWE,” Cena said. “I wanted to do some non-action related projects, stuff that will resonate with different audiences who might not know who I am.”

On the differences between him and the role he plays for WWE:

“I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but there is a difference between the John Cena character you see on television and me as a human being,” said Cena. “A role like I had on Parks and Rec, to me is very easy to understand and that’s something that I can do with my eyes closed. But these other projects that have come up are more challenging, and in a good way.”
