Details on what was planned for Sting before plans were changed for SummerSlam

As noted earlier this week, Sting might not be on SummerSlam after all. He was announced for a meet and greet during SummerSlam weekend and he is advertised for Comic Con in Chicago just a couple of days before SummerSlam weekend.

The original idea for Sting was to have him announced a week or two before SummerSlam as a surprise mystery partner for Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. Some time ago, Sting was told that he would be on the show and WWE even produced some commercials that included Sting and The Undertaker. No, there were no plans for Sting to wrestle Undertaker. The commercial just included Sting and Taker with no matches listed. Sting had gotten himself into ridiculously good shape for his age but then he was told that plans had changed and they would not be using him as a wrestler on the show.

The idea was for Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper to introduce a new member of the Wyatt family and beat down Reigns and Ambrose and that would lead Ambrose and Reigns to introduce Sting as their partner. The idea was that Sting and Ambrose being teamed with Roman Reigns would get fans behind Reigns. It will be interesting to see how the New York crowd reacts to Reigns.

Of course, there is still time for Vince McMahon to change his mind but as of now Sting is not in the plans as a wrestler for SummerSlam.
