All of the trash talk leading up to UFC 190 did great for not only generating buzz around the event but also fired up UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Bethe Correia had said things that made for great quotes, but one of those stood out to Rousey.
During the weigh-ins for the fight, Correia told Rousey that she would knock her out and that when she does, don’t cry about it.
On Saturday night, Rousey didn’t cry, she was too busy knocking out the loud mouth in just thirty-four seconds. Rousey revealed at the post-fight presser that she told Correia not to cry following the big knockout.
“I said the exact same thing she was saying to me at weigh-ins; she was screaming in my face at weigh-ins, she was saying, ‘Don’t cry.’ So, I turned around after I knocked her out and said, ‘Don’t cry,’” Rousey said at UFC 190’s post-fight press conference.
Rousey has said it before and said it again, she plans to retire undefeated and having one of the greatest legacies in MMA history.
“I just feel like I’m one step closer to retiring undefeated and having a legacy. That’s my goal at this point.”
UFC 190 took place Saturday, August 1st, 2015 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Now, Rousey will meet Miesha Tate for the third time at an unknown date for the UFC bantamweight championship. Rousey has won the first two fights in dominant fashion.
