Daniel Bryan was recently on the Sam Roberts podcast. Bryan was on to talk about a bunch of things including his new book, his injuries, the time he was fired from WWE during the Nexus angle, his time in Ring of Honor, and more.
One of the interesting things revealed in the interview was that the idea for him (before his concussion) was for him to defend the Intercontinental title every week on Smackdown and pay-per-views. As it turned out, they ended up going with that idea with John Cena and the United States title.
Bryan also confirmed reports that the idea was pitched by WWE for him to wrestle Sheamus at this year’s WrestleMania. He started to think that it was a rib on him and Sheamus.
