Gawker attempting to prove that Hulk Hogan lied while taking oath in lawsuit

The National Enquirer is reporting that Hulk Hogan is now being accused of lying under oath in his current lawsuit against Gawker.

As noted, Hogan is suing the media company for $100 million dollars after they posted clips of his sex tape online that also saw him say racist remarks.

The transcript for a July 2nd hearing in the case sees Gawker attorney Seth Berlin telling the judge that he had learned Hogan made statements under oath in a deposition that was “directly at odds” with what he had told the FBI.

“So we have a situation… where the key participant, the plaintiff, is telling us one thing under oath and telling the FBI something else,” said Berlin.

If the court can prove that Hogan lied to the court then he could be charged with perjury, and if he lied to the FBI he could be liable on obstruction of justice charges.

Both of those charges potentially carry jail time.

In an update, defense attorney Anthony Brooklier had the following to say to the Enquirer:

“That’s how Martha Stewart got nailed. It wasn’t insider trading that put her in jail. It was the lie she told to the cops.”
