Glover Teixeira victorious over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC Fight Night 73

Ovince Saint Preux vs. Glover Teixeira met in the main event of UFC Fight Night 73. A very good main event for those who missed. Both guys bloody and had a close back and forth fight in the first round. Teixeira found his powerslam takedowns that changed the fight completely. Teixeira ground and pounded OSP until OSP gave up his back so Teixeira could lock in the rear-naked choke for the win during the third round.

UFC Fight Night 73 went down on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Ovince St. Preux (18-7) is 4-2 in his last six bouts, currently riding a one-fight losing streak. He beat Nikita Krylov at UFC 171 by shoulder-choke in the first round and then beat Ryan Jimmo at UFC 174 by second round kimura submission. He lost to Ryan Bader in August of 2014 by unanimous decision. In his next bout, he beat Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in November of 2014 by first round KO. He is coming off a TKO victory over Pat Cummins at UFC on Fox 15. He was submitted by Glover Teixeira in the third round via rear-naked choke at UFC Fight Night 73.

Glover Teixeira (23-4) is currently on a one-fight winning streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 4-2. He beat Rampage Jackson at UFC on Fox 6 by unanimous decision, James Te Huna at UFC 160 by first-round guillotine choke and Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 28 by first-round knockout. He lost to Jon Jones at UFC 172 by unanimous decision and then to Phil Davis at UFC 179 the same way. He submitted Ovince St. Preux in the third round via rear-naked choke at UFC Fight Night 73.

Round 1: Teixeira threw a leg kick, but caught by OSP and OSP took him down. OSP made his way to his fight, he landed a big kick to the body of Teixeira that hurt him. OSP swarmed him with strikes and elbows. Teixeira made his way up to his feet, OSP threw a kick, but was taken down. Teixeira transitioned to the back mount of OSP, but OSP spun out and to his feet. OSP landed a double leg takedown and got on top of Teixeira. This leads to Teixeira scrambling to his feet as blood runs down his nose.

Round 2: Teixeira immediately shot in on a takedown to begin the round, but was stuffed. Teixeira is starting to mix it up with his strikes as he goes back and forth from head to body shots. Teixeira picked up and slammed OSP. Teixeira transitioned into half guard, he worked over OSP with some stiff strikes. Teixeira lands some devastating elbows from the top. OSP made his way to his feet late in the round as Teixeira stayed in control.

Round 3: OSP shot in on a takedown, but was stuffed. Teixeira clinched and slammed OSP down again. Teixeira in side control just landing bombs. Teixeira transitions into the mount as he bleeds on top of OSP. Teixeira got the back of OSP and locked in the rear-naked choke for the win. OSP passed out.
