Lucha Underground meets with WWE, declines TNA’s offer for joint show in Dallas

Dave Meltzer is reporting that TNA recently floated a proposal to the execs at Lucha Underground for a joint show during WrestleMania weekend. At this point, Lucha Underground didn’t want to do it with the feeling being that it would be a bad mix.

TNA generally does not run shows in the same city like other promotions do. I guess by doing so they might feel like they come off as leeching off WWE but other promotions do it every year and if you can make money by running shows during Mania weekend then it’s not a bad idea to do so.

Melzer also reports that there was a meeting in December between Lucha Underground and WWE officials, but nothing came of it. There were discussions involving talent but those talks went nowhere. Vince McMahon was not at the meeting but key people like Paul Levesque and Canyon Ceman were there.

I have not had a chance to check out this week’s show yet, but if you are not watching Lucha Underground then you should really give it a try. Last week’s show was awesome and I’ve heard great things about this week’s episode.
