As we noted over the weekend, there is talk of Rey Mysterio possibly going back to WWE. Mysterio has said publicly that he is open to returning to the company if he could get a part-time schedule. One of the reasons he wants to be home more is because he wants to spend as much time with his kids as possible before they move away for college.
There are also issues between Mysterio and AAA with Mysterio claiming that he is owed money. Dave Meltzer noted in this week’s Wrestling Observer newsletter that people close to the situation believe that there are issues that, if not rectified quickly, would allow him to get out of his Lucha Underground deal and return to WWE.
Meltzer also noted that friends of Mysterio believe that he is not long for Lucha Underground and he will eventually return to WWE. The question is whether that happens before or after season three. Mysterio’s issues boil down to cash and creative.
Whenever the subject of WWE comes up in interviews or on social media, he has been positive about his time in the company. If Mysterio is able to become a free agent in the next couple of weeks, then I would strongly suggest that WWE signs him and book him against Kalisto for WrestleMania in Dallas.
