There was a double pin during the Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose championship match at the end of this week’s Monday Night Raw. Rollins was convinced that he won the WWE Championship while Dean Ambrose was convinced that he successfully retained the title. The announcers were just as confused as the referee in the ring.
Here is what’s happening. The plan is to eventually create a new title. Raw ended with Stephanie McMahon announcing Seth Rollins as the new champion. They aired bonus coverage on the WWE Network. The referee watched several replays of the finish and declared that the match was a draw. Rollins attacked Ambrose and walked off with the WWE title but Ambrose laid out Rollins when Rollins ran back in the ring. Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds and celebrated with the title to close out the show.
It’s looking like there will be some sort of storyline that takes place either at Smackdown or Battleground that will explain the creation of the new title.
WWE is going full steam ahead with their attempt at making Smackdown a ratings powerhouse.
