Title Match Wrestling recently caught up with Rob Van Dam. RVD talked about his best friend Sabu and some of the issues he’s been dealing with from his years in the wrestling ring. Unfortunately, while his style was what helped popularize ECW in the 1990s, he is one of the guys that was his own worst enemy politically at times in WCW and WWE and he never had a run long enough that would allow him to save money.
His injuries have caught up with him and he is now in desperate need of hip surgery. Sabu has a GoFundMe set up at www.gofundme.com/2d3fqx8. He is also dealing with back and shoulder issues and the issues are so bad that he is having trouble sleeping and he has trouble walking. I’ve seen clips of him at some recent independent shows and it’s tough to watch him move around.
The money raised from donations will go towards his surgery including pre-operational procedures, the surgery itself and post-operation requirements; including physical therapy. Thousands of dollars have already been spent on getting consultations, X-rays, injections and other medical attention to help with his hip without surgery. He will be doing rehab on his hip after surgery and he hopes to return to the ring once he recovers.
