CM Punk: Wrestlers embarrassed themselves by responding to Conor McGregor

Former WWE star CM Punk recently spoke to Peter Rosenberg on Hot 97 to promote his fight with Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on September 10th at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

During the interview, Punk was asked about current UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor trolling WWE wrestlers who lashed out at him on Twitter after he said WWE wrestlers messed up p*sses during a UFC 202 media conference call. Punk explained that he wasn’t surprised to see the wrestlers respond to McGregor but what shocked him was that the most number of people who responded worked in WWE and should have known better than to do that. Punk said that they all got worked including Ric Flair. Punk made it clear that he is not harping on just WWE because all wrestlers including non-WWE guys fell for it as well. Punk said that fighting on Twitter is embarrassing.

Rosenberg asked him when the last time he felt like he had to be tough in a pro wrestling locker. Punk would go on to say that when he left WWE, the locker was different and still is compared to when he first got called up to the main roster. Punk named off several former WWE stars that had a top spot in the company and made the younger stars fight to climb the ranks and become top guys. Former stars he mentioned included Flair, Shawn Michaels, Chris Benoit, The Undertaker, Edge, JBL, and others.

Punk explained that he doesn’t miss performing on WWE TV because he doesn’t know if he could do it anymore. Punk added that he was doing it for so long (being a pro wrestler) that he thinks he got most the desire to perform out of his system.

Punk also stated in this interview that he is very confident that he will beat Gall and wants his next fight lined up as soon as possible.
